BT Broadband speed today

I've now had my slowest ever speed with BT broadband. Over the past couple of weeks my speeds have been

I've done a speedtest using http://speedtester.bt.com earlier as well at around 11. Download speek 20kbps!!!!!!!!!!

I'm on option 3 and no I haven't went over the fair usage amount this month - only downloaded/uploaded approx 47.08gb

What did the BT speed test say the connection speed and profile were?

The connection speed was 2500 kbps
the IP profile was 2000 kbps


This happened with bt two weeks ago as well

Just done a new test

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 2592 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1856 kbps

How can the download speeds only be 20kbps a couple of hours ago and now 1850. Spoke to BT and they said there was no problems at the exchange etc. Yet one of my friends who lives < 50m from the exchange got a speed of 9kbps about 5 minutes ago!!! While I'm about 3km from the exchange!!!

What sport has been (is) available on the net today? BT aren't geared up for lots of users actually wanting to stream stuff like that and TV catch-ups at the same time.

I've been having a similar problem for over a month now. Muppets in India no help. Got a new HH2 a couple of weeks ago but all this did was introduce a new misery - frequeent dropouts!

So I have, in theory, a great connection but in practice I'm only getting between 20 and 60 kbps upstream most of the time which makes working from home and playing online games impossible. And so help me, if one more support desk person tells me that upstream is not important I will swing for them!

Can anyone give me a reason why?

Your output power looks low to me... SNR margins look a bit screwy compared to the attentuation as well... its possible the linecard is dying... sounds like possibly a need for a "lift n shift".

Could be a Huawei DSLAM screwing up again .
