Getting a new Home Hub

[link to this post]

Hmm.....just saw this on Wikipedia...

"As of mid 2008 BT finished rolling out the new 2.0 black, curved Home Hub to all new BT total Broadband customers; existing customers can purchase the new Home Hub or get the new Home Hub as a free replacement for their old white one if they sign a new 12 month contract and say they've got the old style Home Hub."

I've had my white v 1.5 Home Hub since the Jurassic era.....but was never asked if I wanted a new one when I signed a new 12 month contract. BT don't exactly go out of their way to tell you there IS a new version.

Far better to join a decent ISP and use the original HH for it's intended purpose, a door stop smile

Hi Schrodingers_Cat
I am sorry that you were not advised of the new BT home hub that we offer, when you contacted us to sign up to a new contract we should have asked you what equipment you were currently using to establish if you were entitled to the free upgrade, I am sorry that this did not happen. If you could please send me your account details to [email protected] (including you forum username) I will gladly check your account and contact you to discuss the ordering of a new Home hub. Regards David

There are worse around than BT. I have very few problems with BT for the 16 months I have been with them, the only problem I did have was when they mucked around with out exchange and that WBC rubbish.

I am only looking at other ISPs to save money, if BT offered me the service I am getting now for a decent price then I will stay.

Ok the HH is not the best and I do have some problems with mine, which is why next year I am going to buy another router.

some people have bad experiences others good. I'm one of those that haven't had a problem, touch wood smile. Been with BT now for over two years, I think, after leaving Pipex. Still using the original hub provided when I joined, never had a break in service (not that I can remember), still connected at 8M, still get regular 6m+ speeds even during peak hours, left on 24/7. All disconnects have been initiated by myself. Live in a small town in Hertfordshire. Excellent service and equipment. Don't think I have ever had to call the Helpdesk, apart from the BT Vision helpdesk. Any contact I have had has been through emails (like turning off interleaving) and have been actioned without any delays or problems. We have 3 computers, wireless laptop, Ipaq, Wii and Xbox connected to the hub. Kid's friends have also brought their laptops around and connected. Did have BT Vision but didn't like so the box is sat in the corner gathering dust. On discounted rates. What more can anyone want from an ISP? My experience, faultless service.
