Missing mail

[link to this post]

Firstly, Happy New Year everyone !!!

I use BT Yahoo webmail and also have my account on my iPhone. Checking emails today on both, and the oldest email I have is from 24th December 2009. Haven't deleted anything and double checked all settings on both webmail and iPhone. Anyone else missing emails prior to a week ago??

Thanks

Strange, you sure you've had e-mail since then? I've had e-mail in my lightly used Yahoo and BT Yahoo! account since then. If they e-mail has disappeared on both webmail and on the iPhone the only thing you can do is to contact THD. That said they won't do anything as Yahoo/BT won't be keeping any backups of the mail.

When I first read your post I thought you meant you had issues on the iPhone. I tried using Yahoo's PIMAP and it was very unreliable. I use MobileMe but would rather like to get away from it as I'm tied to an @me.com address. Much prefer to use one at my own domain!

Yeah..checked spam and just the usual junk in there. Have been sending and receiving ok but everything before 24th Dec is gone.

It's very strange, not heard of many people having issues. See @BTCare's post below and drop them a mail, I'm still waiting on a response to my e-mail many, many weeks ago but never mind!

Not adding much to the discussion but I've never been much of a fan of Yahoo! Mail, much prefer Gmail or other solutions e.g. Exchange, MobileMe. Yahoo won't be keeping a backup of that mail so it is most definitely gone, almost like they've got a corrupt mail store or lost a hard drive and the data hasn't be replicated to another drive. Even with drive replication if the data hasn't been associated with your account they will just presume it's orphaned data and it will be deleted.
