Very slow

[link to this post]

I have been with Bt for years and am very close to the exchange, i have the Home Hub 2,Windows xp a wired conection,no extentions on phone socket and had a new master socket fitted by Bt a few months ago, i have always had a very good speed until about six months ago. Contacted the Indian call centre as in the evening my speed drops to below that of dial up, and sometimes is not usable. After far to many calls to India the lady i was speaking to doing a sharing session did a speed test and saw 27k down and then said well its still working and i cant do anything more, not happy with this a put a complaint in and was contacted by the help desk again and they got Openreach out, the chap told me there was a fault on the card at the exchange but Bt would not allow him to replace the card as i had been overusing my internet conection. I am on option 3 and have never downloaded more than 10 gigs in a month. Being upset by this contacted Bt and told them that if my conection was being overused i wanted to find out who was overusing it as it was not me, i was then put through to a overuse dept and then told my conection has never been overused but they could still not allow the new card to be fitted. Any advice?

Bye,

Ian....

Complain to OfCom. I believe they have a complaints form you can fill in online.

What exchange are you on? The link to what samknows says about it will tell us what the likely ISPs to migrate to are. As per BatBoy's recommendation.

If there are good LLU ISPs then a migration to one would automatically get you to a different line card - in fact not even on BT kit! Plus possibly better speeds than you had even when things were good.

Ofcom is a pointless and inevitably fruitless waste of time. BT have over 4 million broadband customers. Complains at Ofcom are handled proportionately. You need hundreds of thousands of customers to complain to Ofcom before they would realistically do anything. In Ofcom's words "we do not investigate individual complaints".

Best option is to contact BTCare on the address provided, go through the complaints procedure if you wish and then take it to arbitration if that doesn't work. That is all that Ofcom are going to say to you as well.

No LLU there so stuck on a BT Wholesale connection.

BT_CARE is indeed your best avenue at the moment.
