I have an interesting one for people, and would like some advice.
I've had ADSL at this property for over 4 years, when BT switched over to MaxDSL I consistently achieved 7-8mbps on an SNR of around 12-15 (attenuation 35dB)
Last year it was sitting at around 5mbps
Now its lucky to synch at 2-3mbps, and occasionally drops (about 3-4 times a week)
A few things to point out just so people know what I've tried.
- Using the mastersocket test port for connection (same / similiar result)
- Monitoring the line speeds etc and when disconnections occur (seem to be random but occur more often if the line synchs at a higher speed)
- The worst part is sometimes when I dont use the internet for a few days, it synchs much higher, I use it, and it disconnects and sometimes can leave me reconnecting for a good 20 mins or so.
Just curious as to what it could be thats causing this slow degradation? Is it just my line is falling apart after being so old? A line fault perhaps? Anyone in the know I'd appreciate some assistance as to how or what to raise with BT.
