BT Infinity - Questions

I noticed FTTC is now showing as available on my line.

It looks like BT are offering the best FTTC deals, however I'm naturally a little wary of any "creative" marketing that means it's not as good as it actually looks.

So, £25 a month including the router and the installation, unlimited usage subject to FUP, which as I understand it means don't go over 300gb a month (realistically I use around 1/10th of that).

What am I missing please?

Why do you want it?

Meaning - what's your intended use? You going to be gaming? torrenting? just browsing?

It might be that BT's product is the best, but equally some of the other ISPs might offer a more suitable option for you despite sometimes costing more.

Nothing.

If you use relatively low amounts of data then it`s hard to justify higher cost isps

Tbh I noticed our exchange was now live and thought I'd see who was offering FTTC expecting it to be expensive, but £25 seems quite reasonable.

I'm not going to suggest I need 30mbps download speeds as I don't, but it's piqued my interest.

You're absolutely right to ask. Because it's there - Simples. I don't use 10% of the 300 meg yet I've got both VM 50 meg & BT Infinity.

I like to be up to date and never without internet.

I like the idea of Infinity FTTC Option One and Calls for £18/mth, the same as I currently pay to idnet for adsl max, circa 2 to 4 Mbps. I also like the offer of free wi-fi when out and about.

I mainly just web browse and do security updates, but would like to stream video more than I do now. Is streaming, or security updating throttled by BT in any noticable way? That would be my main stumbling block to signing up for 18 potentially long months...

Also, does the same exchange congestion on Adsl Max affect FTTC too?

The "calls" is weekend only, and there is line rental on top of course. Plus the setup charge, though 3 months at £7.50.

I already have that calls package, though actually use 18185.
