BT Total email addresses

Got a relative that has just got BT Total and is trying to setup the email.

They got sent paperwork with their broadband username [email protected] and they presume this is the email address.

When trying to sign in via the BT Total/Yahoo home page it does not recognise the account, and asks them to create a new account. Is that normal, i.e. is BT Total email just a normal Yahoo account at the end of the day?

All fixed, they are happy now, support did a remote assistance and got everything sorted.

Is the best way in ... it avoids a lot of the rubbish that Yahoo throws at you.
