There is! That's why I have my Google set to search UK only to avoid such confusion.

My original response to Andrew's use of "alternate" was tongue-in-cheek but, a serious point had to be made. All too frequently we - well, some of us but not I - take on Americanisms because we're either lazy or think it cool to adopt such affectations.
Whist I cannot be 100% correct - we all make typos and have lapses - I base my use of proper English on the teachings of my former EHGS headmaster, one Dr Joseph Lacey Whitely (the boot or Joe to his pupils), who was a world-renowned author of readers - for students of both English and Latin: I feel his grasp of the language was more certain than the idiot Webster or any other trendy American corrupter of the English we know and love.
I believe "innit" might be appropriate to close with!

If you knew the amount of time I spent in the US then you might understand my ability to switch between the two. Reason being that while us UK people understand both variants, when you visit the US you tend to have to use American English or get puzzled looks from people. Particularly in the areas where Spanish is a very common language

End of the day who really cares? I don't tbh.
