I have placed an order for BT Infinity and presently have FTTC with IDNET. My MAC code was provided and I have been supplied with an activation date of 9th Feb. The homehub3 will arrive in the post.
The question is, will there be an engineer visit or is it for me to plug in the home hub?
The ideal answer is for me to connect the hub to the already present VDSL modem but has anyone been through a FTTC migration that could tell me how it worked for them?
Thanks!

LOL!
See my opening post here.
In the middle of that, you see they insist an engineer visit will be necessary, as they just thought I was a nutter. I couldn't possibly have had the cabinet work done and an Openreach VDSL2 faceplate fitted.

Laughable. I read your post earlier.
What confuses me is the order confirmation says nothing about an engineer visit. All it says is they will confirm when it is active.
My worry is, if I go to work assuming I can set it up myself in the evening but miss an engineer the order might get borked.

Ah!
It could be that just the sales people don't know, and that there really is an FTTC migration process. Did you order online, or through sales?
I have a MAC in my email Inbox.

Perhaps Robertos was the first migration, and they've now got their act together?
A bit fast though if that is the case.
These are the first two FTTC migrations I recall seeing.
As for plugging the HomeHub3 in, then come the expected date if no engineer comes a knocking just plug it and see what happens

This was ordered online and it recognised I had an existing FTTC connection. The MAC was required and entered.
The note I received is.........
Your download speed should be:
40Mb
Your upload speed should be:
10Mb
Find out what can affect your speed at www.bt.com/yourbroadbandspeed
When your service starts
Your service can start at any time up to midnight on the day it's due. We'll let you know when it's ready.
That makes it look like nobody is coming out (which i'm happy with).
I will update this post with the outcome on 9th Feb.

When I migrated from Aquiss FTTC to BT Infinity the engineer didn't come out they just sent me an email and text saying I was connected.

Same reply as maniac, but I didn't get a text. I think I got an email a few hours after I actually got connected though. I seem to remember just rebooting my modem and router and entering some details in my router (as I don't use Homehub). All worked great.

Did you all get charged the connection charges though?

Hi RobertoS,
I have posted this in the other thread and I don't mean to cross-post but I paid a small contribution to end my contract with the original Entanet reseller, but then I paid a £1 admin fee to join AAISP. I didn't pay any other installion fee (which was usually around the £75 to £100 ball park figure with AAISP).
I left AAISP for free and joined BT without any installion fee, but also had £25 back I think via topcashback. I also had a discounted rate for 3 months (Infinity option 2- unlimited with 10Mb upload.)
