My highest speed is with BT Infinty.
The entanet resellers speeds were not so good as I had a congested node.
AAISP were good speeds, but when I had routine maintenance on their system, the profile on AAISP would often limit my speed to 33Meg. It was an automated setup and a quick email or phone call to the support guys would sort it out straight away, apart from the weekends when there wasn't any support staff in.
I do miss the static ip though, and I don't use p2p but everything has been great on Infinity.

Well that's surprised me.

You were both correct. I rebooted the modem and changed the PPPoE login details on my router and low and behold I've now got a new IP address and presumably I'm connected to Infinity.

Plusnet is dynamic as well as standard. Only £5 one-off to have static, but not available on the 2Mbps upload product. The 10Mbps upload is another £5pm, and would largely defeat the object.

Run speedtest.net. That tells you the ISP.

The BT test will tell you the IP Profile.

I've got an unlocked modem so no real need to use the BT Speedtester -

Downstream Upstream Downstream Upstream

This is three of us leaving IDNet in a very short space of time. Why is this?

Mine is just cost for no significant benefit as long as nothing goes wrong, not sure from a few posts seen over the last 12 months that IDNet would be perfect if it did, and a nagging feeling that it isn't quite as fast as it should be.

A slight worry that Plusnet may also be slower than Infinity and also dubious support and network resilience. But at the moment feel more inclined to them due to a fear of the BadTotalitarian. Also cheaper in the long-term.

For me it was the strict, almost draconian, approach by Idnet to peak hours and the bandwidth limits.

Towards the end I was tired of "rationing" my internet usage.

I think that is the trouble. If the kids or the wife get home during the weekday and want to use Itunes, iplayer, youtube, online banking, online shopping or whatever they don't really know how much bandwidth is consumed on a daily basis.

I don't download much, but at least 8gig gets used per month when I am away in work on people just doing the daily routine.

No more watching the allowance, or thinking I need to download this that and the other after a certain time. Especially when it comes to gaming and downloading demo's and patches.
Piece of mind.
