Mine went from 37 to 76 throughput!

www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk seems the best site for testing the speeds at the moment.

Nice one.

What I get out the modem

Downstream Upstream Downstream Upstream
Line rate (kbit/s) 39996 1999 0 0
CRC errors 0 0 0 0
FEC errors 0 0 0 0
HEC errors 0 0 0 0

Attainable rate (kbit/s) 67868 21492
SNR margin (dB) 12.2 21.8
Line attenuation (dB) 0 0
Output power (dBmV) 12.4 4.6

So guess if I want something higher than the 40 limit I get then wont do that but the £18 40 down and 10 up is good.

Look at the line rate. So how is this going to go to 7. something it was on Tuesday morning before someone or the system took at back to 2. Wont ever go over 1.8Mb but try telling the so call tech department that.

Glad it goes for you. nice speed.

Now to try and sort my capped upload speed out. If they know what you are on about, Did not seen to yesterday.
What joy.

To much pratting around on this thing. Time to get showered and dressed me thinks!.

http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/results.php?t=13348...

Speedtest on the one you said. Not always the best. I like to pick my own server on the other site. The think broadband one does the job as well.

Have rang as they said and will be up to 10 Meg upload tomorrow.
We shall see.
Heard what you want to hear all before.

That sounds like you will end up on the 40Mb/10Mb service.

In other words your download will continue to be capped at 40Mb.
Is that what you were actually asking for?

Hello

Put the modem back to the locked state to see if that helped but not.

Changed the broadband to 40/10 the cheap £18 thing and did do tuesday morning at 7.7ish up but gone by dinnertime.

On MyBT the order is done so as usual everything done wrong. Just find getting anything done and having to talk to people that think they are better than you hard going.

Do all his daft speed tests and see what happens.

Nothing if running at 1.8Meg on the upto 2 as it went back to that.
Started new 18 month contract for something the same as the last 11 months.
So not happy.

BT speedtest says upto 10 but tests at 1.8 every time. Bit of a clue there and the unlocked thing says 1999 line speed.

Will be done and going at 10 tomorrow.
We shall see.
Anyone want to put bets on it wont be any different.
Sure they just say what you want to hear.

Then email to the main man and that works as did last year with the rubbish (polite way ) phone line that their tester said was ok.
Will be when it does not crackle and be unusiable and so dragging the 40Mb sopeed down but was getting over 16 so should be happy.
arrogant thick lot.

What part of internet has slowed down from the max rate and can use the line for voice calls sometimes, comes and goes and had recordings.

Deal with england and then things happen and got some money back.

Will an email to england be needed this time.
If no joy in the morning then off one will go.

BT, dont we all love them.
OK but hard work trying to explain what is wrong and told it is not.
"computer says no". in a little britain stylee

Maybe might have the speed of 40/ 10 tomorrow as it was for a bit Tuesday then went back to 2 Up.

All good stuff.
Just find dealing with problems so hard.
Was told it was ok as was getting 40 down.

What part of the upload dropped after hours to what it always was is hard to understand.
UK call centres, yes please!.

Mine initially went from 37 to 74 on speedtest.net, though not the BT or TBB checkers.
Last night d/l dropped to around 10, which the usual HH3 reboot did not fix immediately. It did go beck up after a while, but not for long. Today still down at 10 (8 on BT speedtest) but a HH3 restart seemes to have fixed it - fingers crossed!

www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk seems the best site for testing the speeds at the moment.

I went from 37/8 to 74/15 smile. I do have an odd problem though, both speedtest.net and speedtest.bbmax do not give the correct answer on my iMac (wired) but they do on my MacBook Pro (wired/wireless). I initially thought I had a speed problem until I discovered the differing results.

The BT Beta test gives a reasonable result down ~74 but the up result is low. I have found the best tester to be the vmspeed one

BT -> Zen -> F2S -> Bulldog -> Be* -> BT Infinity
Say it with flowers, give her a Triffid smile

Just did a google at 6.15 thismorning as surprise surprise it had not gone back to 10 upload.

Googled BT staff emails, somethng like that and found all the top guys including Warren Buckley, customer care bloke. Emailed his PA and said what had happened, upload was 10 tuesday and at sometime went back to 2 as speedtests said.

Got responce and passed to newcastle technical people.

Result, now told as they found out upstream had errors so dropped back to 2 on its own.
My arguement, why not told this on a computer generated email. You think someone has screwed up because it goes back to 1.8Mbs speed like always had and unlocked modem says 1999Kbps

So now guy is coming tomorrow afternoon (saturday, very nice) in his van to have a look at the line but did all this last year and had a new cable ran up the house into the joiner box in the roof that ghoes to the master socket. No spare pairs on the multicore cable from road, under the blocks garden to the our wall of next door.

So been looked at and no spare pairs. Still answer now of what happened and getting a free openreach visit as the system says problem is near house, clever remote test stuff but not sure.

We shall see what is found tomorrow that was not last summer about our old rubbish line.

Point of story, Write to someone in England then things happen the same day and openreach is called.

Indian call centres, yuk!.

Unlock modem and see what it connects at, a bit of anunition before moaning, prove it is not you speaking rubbish as I did before arguing it was not connecting at 10Meg up.

Rant over.
