Re: Does anyone understand Homehub 2 DHCP??

Well that is the first access point seen with a DHCP server in it.

In the situation

HH2 using 192.168.1.x range ---- LAN wireless router Wireless ---- 192.168.2.x range

Then devices on the 2.x range will see the Internet, but be behind 2 routers.

The problem is, to enable 2 subnets you have to change the subnet mask from 255.255.255.0 or you'll get IP address conflicts.

In reply to a post by MrSaffron:
Two DHCP servers on the same physical LAN sounds a nightmare, as a device will look for any DHCP device and pick the first one.

It should work fine, the device sends out a request for DHCP it accepts one response and lets the others know it isn't using them.

At least that's how it should work, unfortunately it seems to be somewhat flaky on a lot of home routers, and the HH in particular.

Setting reserved IPs seems to work a lot of the time, the HH3 seems to do this by default, not sure about the HH2.
