Re: BT DNS just went down?

My router stats shows that my internet connection was lost early this morning. Usually my connection is 51/8 but now down to 14.7/8 with latency risen form around 10 to 47. I also use Google's DNS. Located at GU8 in Surrey.

OK what's going on folks?

Yes, lots of slow sites and others like imdb.com and the "BT Cares" forums are both completely dead.

Can't change the DNS on the HH5 so I'll just have to wait.

Fingers crossed, they'll get their fingers out.

Me as well - thought it was BT DNS Servers so changed my adapter to Google DNS, but still can't access lots of sites. Hit and miss what works. I flushed my DNS cache so it can't just be working off saved DNS entries - there are some old bookmarks I haven't touched in months that work, but regular websites that do not.

What is going on??

I've got the same problem (Sidmouth, Devon) Exchange.

Some sites will not load, others seem half corrupted in that not all content can be displayed.

Same with Wife's PC. Using wireless access to HH3. Reset HH doesn't help.

Can't access BT Help to complain!

Down for me too in Dorset. Some sites work, some don't.

Down in Hatfield, Herts to.

All works by VPN, not by changing DNS. According to BT Status Checker (only accessible via VPN), there is nothing wrong at my exchange!

shrey...

Any chance you can report the fault to BT, as most of us can't access BT.

Down in Durham.

How can we report this if the BT custhelp site is down? Has anyone done so yet?

Even programmes that know where tehy are linking to are having problems - ROboform cannot sync as it cannot get through.

I cannot get to natwest site, bbc, so it is uk as well. Cannot get to newsblur (RSS reader), microsoft email, but CAN get to google mail and flickr, as well as for some reason thinkbroadband!

All worked until shortly after 9am, then I could not follow a link from newsbllur, so tried other sites. Rebooted both bt boxes, both claim good internet connction.

donno but, most of the sites listed above that appear to be down on a BT connection I don't get a DNS resolution.

So it's hard to ping them to see if they are really down or just inaccessible via BT.
