Does it include anytime calls? Can one use this and have broadband with another ISP?

Yes, that is just a BT landline package with extras so just go to whoever you want for your broadband.

so circa £10 in 2008 for what is about to be around £16 just 4 years later. shocking, and this is alongside increases on caller display, connection charges, and call costs as well.

The UK has it backwards. Our rural areas have much better broadband then other countries but our cities are lagging behind. There is a strong argument the weak infrastructure in cities is due to subsidising rural areas.

My parents are on an exchange which is basically the same as yours. On the PN website the unlimited BB is £9,99 a month and with line rental it comes down to £18.50. This is the breakdown(12 month contract)

If the price for broadband started of at £9.99 it can't be an old school market 1 exchange.

I then tried to request a MAC via 0800 328 6738. I explained that I had seen the press reports of the price increase and wanted to confirm that it meant I did not need to honour my minimum term. He confirmed this and after a few minutes he gave me my MAC.

I phoned today and can confirm that my contract ends on October 11th.
I was offered a £4 reduction in broadband charges (unlimited ADSL) and a £2 reduction for Anytme calls
BUT
all requests to terminate the contract early without penalty were met with a firm 'NO' from the advisor and his manager - both of whom were English.
Suppose it depend who you get on the other end of the phone and I may try again although there's not long to go anyway

Guess it does depend which is very annoying. I called just under an hour ago and cancelled with no fee. I recorded the call because it wouldn't be the first time BT lied to me.
