Yup. The smarthub forces it to be -5 at the end of the SSID, I must say I every 5ghz channel 36, 40, 44, 48 are all occupied by 2+ other networks now where I live. HH6 does not support any other channels. 36 is by far the worse, with 6 Sky networks, great idea (not) that Sky send their routers fixed to 36!

In my office, we have 20+ networks on each of the channels (other than my corp network). So much so, plenty have fallen down to 20Mhz instead of 80.

The problem that I was facing regarding the buffering, I was literally next to the smarthub, so can't be a distance issue.

Hah, I did change the channel to 36 for the 5gHz yesterday. I guess I better change it to another channel then...LOL

I will probably try using the -5 network, do speedtest and see what difference it makes.

Sometimes being right next to the transmitter can cause its own problems. Step back a few feet.

5ghz does appear faster, though about the same between different channels.
If it doesn't make youtube buffering, I think I will stay on this -5 network.

If next to the hub almost certainly a 2.4ghz issue, and likely can be fixed by switching the channel on this... or as you have done using the -5 network will fix it also

I'd imagine there are the same sort of (free) utilities available for the Ipad etc that are available for Android/ Windows. I downloaded one on to the smartphone and that told me what wifi was in use around me, signal strength and more importantly what channels were in use. Even recommended what channel to use. As mentioned, 36 seems to be nigh on everywhere

I think I still get the buffering issue with -5. A lot better than before though.
And with 2.4ghz, I have had no issue so far even though I have not changed channel for 2.4

Probably depends on the smartphone but have a look on the app store and search for something like "wifi analyser" (or analyzer). You'll probably see a few free options - give some of them a try (after looking at reviews of course).
