Had Openreach install (BT) FTTH Friday morning took about 2 hours.

Engineer connected the Smarthub 2 , everything just works.

Speed tests at 500 down and 73 up

Ping 2ms to London servers

No Fuss, No drama , No problems

Everyone should get it !

I certainly would if I could but the reality is that by the time it is available where I live, I will be long gone

However it's nice to hear a happy story just for once

p.s. - shouldn't grumble really I'm on day 8 since my last re-sync which is good for me.

DLM is not a problem normally, it certainly is not as problem here.

I can't, not that I would go for BT and at their prices, certainly not, but I am glad you are happy with it.

Unfortunately, DLM continues to be a problem even for FTTC!

However, close you may be to your cabinet there's no guarantees that you'll get 80/20 Mbps forever. There may come a point due to crosstalk/congestion your speeds will drop. After 2 years sycing at 80/20 I'm no longer syncing at 80/20 last 5 months with TalkTalk. It's now 76.3/19.8Mbps and there seems to have been no recovery to this, though I have not tried rebooting the router.

Not to mention in the event of a power cut or faulty router, DLM may trigger interleaving thinking your line is unstable and drop your speeds down until it interprets your connection as stable again. Connecting and reconnecting telephone wire into the faceplate socket may also cause drop outs and speed drops.

At least we don't have this headache to worry about with FTTP. I can't wait for CommunityFibre to soon go live and end FTTC for good!

My Plusnet FTTC from 2014 until 2021 was always staying at 80/20 never drop!

2021 to 2022 was with UnchainedISP for G.fast best top sync in winter was 246/42 down to 210/34 in summer

Now with UnchainedISP SoGEA FTTC still sync 80/20 with max data rate of 90/27
