If you gave me the choice of BT or Zen I would go with BT ever single time, you clearly want to beat up on BT due to your perceived experience of their service and thats fine. But there are 2 sides to every story and customers need to take responsibility for their own poor decisions.

I did get in contact with Zen at the same time as BT when moving day was looming.
The key question to Both was "Can you guarantee to port my number?"

Zen: We cannot guarantee to port a number to our service

BT: Yeh Yeh Yeh Yeh, Scooby Snak ?

With one ISP unable to guarantee a move, I went with the one that claimed it could, BT.
I will agree THAT was a poor decision.

My next possibly poor decision will be to have a chat with Zen about SoGea.
It will either go really well putting Zen well above the BT service or most likely be indistiguishable from the current service.

BT have been taking my money for a landline service for Thirty years, this isn't a snap decision.
As BT no longer provide anything I need or desire, it is indeed time for the big Switch Off.

The WhatAboutery in relation to Zen is irrelevant to me.
There may be bits that have gone wrong with some other customer experiences, mine has been fine.

I'm not the one feeling the need to come here and bleat on about how it took 30 years to leave BT, I haven't had a voice service from BT since 2003 😎

So, who provides the underlying fibre that Zen use?

According to my crystal-ball, Cityfibre at some point.

Back to the supposedly poor service provided by Zen, I see no evidence at all.
Access has been faultless and the phone has had no downtime.

Amusingly, BT sent me a returns bag for my "Telephone equipment"
I wonder what to put in it as no phone hardware was ever supplied by BT.

Probably a seized water pump from a Nissan Micra and half a million packing foam bits.

Well, having read this nonsense I can imagine all the staff at BT putting up bunting, having a party and cheering your departure.

Then Virgin stormed the good ship NTL and raised a big red flag with a Virgin Media logo.

Virgin never owned Virgin media.
NTL just paid them to use the logo and name as in telewest areas NTL didnt have a good name.
