585 firmware version 5.4.4.1

[link to this post]

Is this version new and if so how new?

Was there a version between 5.3.2.6 and 5.4.4.1 ... if so what was it. If there was a version in-between does anyone know if 5.4.4.1 now works with network printers?

Has anything been improved or is it the usual case with Speedtouch and thus has the firmware got worse?

See my message "New firmware for Speedtouch 585?" posted on 17 June, below.

I've gone back to 5.4.0.14.

Can't answer the other questions but there must have been a version(s) in-between.

Currently running 5.4.0.11 on 585v5... updated from new in the last 1-2 months.

Thanks, I did quickly scan for a post but missed it some how...

Well if there really is an SNR problem with this new 5.4.4.1 firmware then I see no point in giving it a go. Can anyone else confirm this? Are you sure that you didn't just have a higher sync or are you already at 8128k.

I think with Speedtouch though if the old firmware works (which it does) then there is no need to upgrade as the newer versions always seem to get worse. ... it makes me wonder if they do it on purpose to make people buy the new hardware releases.

If anyone can find a good reason to upgrade post it here!
