DMT: why did this happen?

[link to this post]

Last night, I tweaked DMT to get the kind of sync speed and SNR I'd been aiming for. This morning, I tweaked it a bit more. All seemed fine. But later, I started DMT yet again and was just perusing the values in it (unchanged from the earlier tweak) when, all of a sudden, all of the values in the boxes disappeared. It would appear that the router had resync'd and the DMT program 'disconnected'. My router (ST546v5) still appeared to be connected to the Internet, though, judging by its indicators.

Within DMT, I had to manually reconnect. It reconnected with the same values as before. But should DMT do this? Is this some sort of timeout? As far as I can recall, I 'applied' the last SNR value, 'saved' it, then did a 'resync/reboot'.

I have found on occasion that the my router, when it loses synch, actually reboots (or a I getting cause and effect the wrong way round)
Point is if you check your router stats the uptime is given.
If you had a reboot then all the telnet connections will be terminated
As far as I know DMT doesn't reconnect if a telnet connection is terminated.

Just checked the uptime and it's only about 2 hrs, which is when it suddenly disconnected.

When it suddenly disconnected, it was left in that state and to get DMT to display the figures again, I had to reconnect. The indicators on the router weren't active during that disconnected phase, though - they all remained stable and green.

Could I have forgotten to apply Resync/Reboot, the last time, perhaps?

Will see how it goes from hereon.

I have a 546 V5 too, and it seems that the Telnet session times out because "Keep alive" doesn't work. As of now, I've been to busy to investigate this further.

Telnet into the router and type:

env set var=SESSIONTIMEOUT value=0

saveall
