problem with Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-EG - Freeola

[link to this post]

Hi,

I recently signed up with Freeola. They've activated my ADSL line with BT and I'm trying to connect using a dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-EG. I'm meeting with absolutely no success. The modem reports no activity and not being connected to any dsl line. I've checked all the settings I can think of, switched over cables, tried a different microfilter, tried no microfilter, and still absolutely nothing. Occasionally, the modem will switch to "connecting" indefinitely, but never actually connect and when I reboot the router it switches back to "disconnected". There's also no activity on the WAN or PPPoA lights on the router, except briefly on the WAN light when I reboot the router, and I assume that's just part of the boot up procedure. The modem manual states that the WAN light should be illuminated whenever the router is connected to an active DSL line, even if the modem can't establish a connection. Freeola technical support reported the fault to BT who checked the line and said it was fine (although the fault report has now been "passed back" to BT, whatever that means.)

Does anyone have any ideas? It may be a problem with the router but it's brand new, and I don't have access to another modem to try on the line to rule out a hardware fault. Could it to be something with the modem also supporting ADSL2 and ADSL2+? The manual does state that it supports standard ADSL.

I have no idea what to try next so any advice will be very gratefully received. If any more info is needed, I'll supply it right away.

Thanks very much,
Odiumjunkie
