I think it does. If you havn't already removed the software, you can goto Device Manager inside 'System' in the Control Panel and right click and uninstall the Netgear, then remove the software.

Thanks everyone, It worked but couldn't load the Netgear USB adapter WG111 drivers from the CD I browsed to the CD drive and located the Netgear folder but when I tried to locate the driver folder it greyed out the OK button so I had to let windows connect to the internet to do it.Good job I re-installed the laptop card first so that I could connect to the internet,the laptop card loaded on OK I was able to locate the WinXP driver from the CD.
Hope this helps anyone with the same prob.

It's caused by Netgears proprietary replacement for msgina.dll.
