Hardware for ADSL Max

[link to this post]

Hi,

I think I know the answer to this question but I want to double check.

I have a zoom x4 5551 adsl modem/router.

I'm planning on changing to an ADSL max product.
However, I have recieved information from my ISP indicating I will need new equipment because of different technology.

However, as I understand it all the up to 8Mbp packages (provided through BT wholesale, LLU is different) are Rate adaptive ADSL which means any equipment that says supports speeds up to 8Mbps should be fine for ADSL MAx.

So the simple question is can my zoom X4 be used with ADSL MAX product?

I've also got a DLink DSL300G which I was also goin to try using, would this be suitable for ADSL MAX?

Thanks in Advance

5551 or 5651?
The Zoom X4 5651 is fully compatible with the upto 24Mbps ADSL2+ products, so shouldn't have issues with ADSLmax (upto 8Mbps).
If you've a 5551 it'll do 8Mbps http://www.zoom.com/graphics/datasheets/adsl/X41102.pdf

The Dlink will also do 8Mbps http://www.dsl-warehouse.co.uk/support/DSL-300G-ds.pdf

Sounds like your ISP is just trying to sell you a router.

Yes, my father in law has my old Zoom X4 on MaxDSL at 8128 (or was it an X3) either way the answer is yes.
