Disappointed

[link to this post]

Well, I'm rather disappointed with the performance of my 2wire 2700hgv.

The wireless is superb but the connection speed is not good. I left the router on sync'd at 5760kbps and it stayed up for 3 days then re-syncd. Not bad, I can deal with that.

Problem is it re-syncd at 3904 with a SNR of 15db which does not want to go down.

I'm tempted to sell it (SBC version) and get a dual SSID one which seem to perform better.

Is it worth it though?

Welcome to the pleasures of MaxDSL.
The only quick way out of it is to use DMT on a suitable router

After the minefield that is the 2700HGV i am now much happier using a 585 v6. The 2wires are too much of a [censored] shoot.

I found the 585v6 rather unstable under heavy noise.

6.1.4.3 Idle time out error doesnr seem to be a problem

Tried 6.17.2.5 and it sync'd @ 3900kbps @ 15db snr.

What experiences did you have with the 2700hgv?

I've read on here that they tend to sync 1Mb faster than the 585v6 on an alcatel DSLAM.

Well i'm on an alcatel DSLAM and they both sync at the same speed!

for me it synched higher and errors low (good bitswapping) however it also lost synch when snr was low, on adsl max it is useless synching at a higher speed if it cant be sustained because of the bras profiling system. I have a sneaky feeling the 2wire doesnt accuratly see the snr margin and thinks its higher then it really is hence the higher sync speeds. I am on a TI dslam.

It's a possibility that is the case but why @ 6db do both the 585v6 and 2 wire's sync at the same speed when others on different lines with the same DSLAM and attenuation say it sync's higher??
