Logging VPN errors - Draytek 2800 (UK)

[link to this post]

Anyone seen these before and care to comment ? Only started having those after the update to UK 2.8.2

Vigor: Peer:xxx.xx.xx.xxx heppaned PPTP[ECHO-REQUEST] not response!! Ready to disconnect.

The peer in question is not active (is a PC, not another router) and won't try to auto dial. Its as if the draytek at my end is missing the VPN and wants it back.

These errors are only logged when there is no VPN session to that client, and normally show up at night, although i've got them on my screen now. I have also had a couple of clients calling me up to say they keep getting an error 800 from the MS VPN dialler.

Error 800 is usless as MS dont have much info on it - other then it might be a router firmware issue. I could, but am reluctent to role back to an older firmware.

Any ideas ? - In this case google is not my friend...

I am now also getting these error messages logged from a client thats nothing to do with my network.

I have asked on the draytek forum - no one has even sent a reply and that was a couple of days ago now.

Any ideas?!

Sorry, never seen such error messages (but I use 2600 series routers).

What benefit does the upgraded firmware give you? - newer is not always better.

I'm still checking myself!

The main one was newmodem firmware which I can't tell if has resulted in a more stable line or not.

From what I can see ifs not fixed any of what appear to be outstanding issues (Such as P2P blocking working correctley)

Once I'm back in the office I will downgrade to 2.8.0 (I think) which was the las good version I used - that should get rid of the error messages.

Anyway thanks for the reply!!

A downgrade has resolved the problem (From what I can see)

No more logging of odd errors, people can connect every time to the VPN again.

The downgrade didn't touch the ADSL Modem firmware (This stayed at the newer version)

Router back to 2.8.0 all is ok - but I won't know that everyone can connect till next week when they come back from holiday.
