510 V4 vs 510 V6

I'm considering getting the V6 because I can now get ADSL2+. My current V4 router will probably work with ADSL2+ but I was wondering if the V6 would give me a more reliable line? Is there a good reason why I ought to buy the V6 router?

Your v4 will only work at vanilla ADSL not ADSL 2 / 2+.

I used a 516v6 for about 2 years on Bulldog ADSL2+ with no issues - I think its quite similar to the 510.

My 510v4 works with ADSL2+ and apparently attenuation is 6db less than Netgear I have. Thanks for the wrong advise Rockh, I take it you work for Netgear?

Telnet into the router and post your stats.

No don't work for Netgear. The 510v4 was introduced too long ago to have an adsl 2 chipset, it will work though at adsl 1 speeds.

Well you didn't say anything about speed I thought you meant it won't work at all! Never mind. I think my 510v4 works up to 8mb, not sure might be more.

510v4 is ADSL 1 only V6 is 1,2, and 2+ as Rock says.

If that's true how come I can make this post using my 510v4, I'm on ADSL2+.
