Draytek 2820 & multiple static IP's

[link to this post]

Can anyone help with using a Draytek 2820 (no wireless) with static IP's on WAN1 ?

Here's the situation..... I have two lines -

One from AAISP with a Be LLU connection, and 32 static IPs. This goes direct into the ADSL socket on the 2820, and is set for VPI:0, VCI:101, Protocol:PPPoE/LLC/SNAP, Modulation:ADSL2+(G.992.5), Dynamic IP, as per AAISP's instructions.

The other is direct from Be, also LLU with 4 static IP's. This is connected via a Draytek 120 modem, connected via ethernet, with a static IP.

I've set up the WAN IP Alias on both LANs.

I am using the DMZ feature to link one local IP addresss to an IP on the WAN. Now, I can get the Static IP's to work fine with DMZ on WAN2, but I'm having a lot of trouble on WAN1. I tried ticking the "PPPoE Pass-through" on WAN1, and this seemed to work for a while, but when I tried it today, it wasn't.

Will the setting of the load balancing on the 2820 affect DMZ ? Sometimes I divert some IP addresses via a WAN port to adjust usage because one connection is metered, and one isn't.

Help please ! smile

P.S. I think the load balancing thing does seem to have an effect ! smile

What firmware have you got on the router? If it's 3.3.2.x then the port forwarding has some issues, updating to 3.3.3 should resolve that.

Ohterwise it looks like you have it all set up correctly to use the IPs with DMZ, one thing though, PPPoE pass-through is meant to use the WAN1 as a modem for another router behind it, it shouldn't cause any problems with 3.3.2 because it needs additional setup but with 3.3.3 it will stop the router from connecting WAN1.

Load balance settings wont affect the DMZ - load balancing is for outgoing traffic, incoming traffic would be decided by which IP address is being used.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using 3.3.3 firmware. I think I've cracked it - load balancing does seem to have an effect on the routing to the static IP's, and I appear to have solved it by setting load balancing to use the WAN channel that the particular static IP is associated with.
