i woundered it anyone has the exact settings i need to enter ive put my pppoe un/pw , VLAN 101 and entered my static IP

these are all that i know of to enter that it asks me for

Any help would be appreciated as i used to like using this router on my old FTTC provider as its got Gbit lan 3g back up decent wifi and all in one so saves on the plugs lol

flashing DSL light - initialising - sounds like lack of sync.

You say you've used it before - same connection different ISP or ??

yes i used the router its self for 9 months on my old ISP (the ISP that gave me the router) so it was a diff connection but it worked none the less

just to confirm its not locked down with custom firmware like for example a BT home hub or anything like that so its not the firmware stopping it from connecting to a diff provider it just has the generic firmware zyxel ship with the router, all they did when i was with the was to block admin access and only give you limited access to not mess with things they did not want you messing with but when i left them they gave me access to the full account (called supervisor its above admin) so i could use it with plusnet

the only difference is my old ISP did not use PPPoE i think it was something like IPOE and used VLAN 10 to connect but ive factory reset it and started new and obviously using PPPoE for plus net.

the router its self has a fair few settings so all i can think of is im doing something wrong within the settings which is why its not working

at the min im using a OR modem and a unlocked HH3 the router PN supply is terrible, but seen as i own this zyxel im wanting to use it for the all in one box experience, the fact it has Gbit lan and also the wifi is actually very good it can still connect about 5 houses up even on a phone, were as the HH even though its better than the PN wireless its still not exactly brilliant

I am using my own VDSL router on PlusNet with no problems TG789.
Have you turned on VLAN tagging and set it to 101

Just in case it helps, here are the steps I used to get an HG622 working with Infinity.

1 - I restored default settings under Maintenance/Device
2 - Basic/DSL -> unticked AnnexM
3 - Basic/Link Interface/PTM -> set as in screenshot above http://www4.picturepush.com/photo/a/12826047/img/hg6... (thanks asbokid)
4 - Basic/Wan/WAN2_INTERNET_TR069_R_PTM2_4_1_1 . set [email protected] pass=bt, and favourite dns servers

I realize you aren't on either HG622 or on Infinity, but the details that matter are probably the same.
It does look as if you have already covered them.

I do not think that you want the Static IP check box. What you actually have is a dynamic IP address that is allocated to you and therefore will always be served to you rather than a static IP address.

oh ok i paid for a static IP address when i joined and its stayed the same ever since so i presumed id need that option ticked and to fill my IP in the box

Almost certainly.

I have a static IP allocated to me, but my router is set for dynamic IP. Plusnet then ensures that the same IP is allocated to me dynamically, every time I connect.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if you're getting klicked off as a security measure when your router doesn't send an IP assignment ACK. Please switch back to dynamic IP and let us all know how you get on.

Maybe try "Plusnet" for the PPPoE Service Name, as per the advice of Lewis Skinner of Plusnet [1]

EDIT:

Is it actually syncing at the DSL layer? Perhaps try running the PPPoE client on your PC first, with the device set to ethernet bridge mode.

trying plusnet did not work in the pppoe name did not do anything did not see you edit till plugged OR modem back in

the DSL light on the router just flashes on and off and the status in the interface says initializing but thats it it never syncs its so odd because it used to work so well untill it was unplugged

ill give it a try in bridge mode with the PC doing the PPPOE

Try:-

Go into your Member Centre >> Connection settings >> Automatic setup.

Disable Auto setup.

For some reason on my connection I cannot disable it but that doesn't bother me right now. It will soon. So if it doesn't let you, it seems it is an FTTC issue, so try getting support to disable it.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.4/16.8Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

you're barking up the wrong tree with the PPPoE and IP address stuff

if it isn't in sync none of the above gets the chance to do anything

when you have an upstream and downstream sync speed reported then you can start to worry about the other stuff, if it's still a problem.

Hi, I'm actually using the same router myself - just checked the settings I'm using and will put in any differences:

802.1P priority on mine is set to 0 rather than 2
Auth is set to Auto, though CHAP should work I believe
I also have a static IP but that box isn't ticked
I don't have any DNS servers manually specified but that shouldn't make a difference

All in all, I don't think there's anything there that'd affect the sync, hope it's connecting up and working for you.

EDIT: Also worth pointing out I deleted the existing VDSL connection and created a new one rather than editing what was there, not sure if that'll make a difference but it might be worth a go.

thanks for the reply i also deleted the existing one my self and started again im starting to think it may have just decided to pack in while its not been used (no idea how or why it would do that) But its not even getting a sync any more so as others have mentioned i suppose till that happens im not going to get right far with the rest anyway,

I cant even get a friend to test it for me to rule out weather its gone iffy or weather its just having probs with my line as all my friends within a 25mile radius have cable or mobile BB literally not one of them has ADSL or VDSL lol

Ash

EDIT

currently got it working over the WAN interface by keeping the OR modem although as stated i want to get it working with the built in VDSL modem this wioll at least still give me the functions of the router back i wanted Gbit lan good wifi USB sharing build in SIP support etc

so ill keep trying to get the VDSL bit sorted then i can get rid of the OR modem but at least for now im 1 steap there lol

Perhaps give it a hard reset with a hat pin, assuming it's got a hat pin hole?!

Shame if it has broken. These are very nice devices with a Lantiq VR9 chipset (VRX288 with a SLIC instead of the budget VRX268 in the Openreach ECI).

Turkish Telekom provides the Zyxel P-2812 as CPE. They sell for about £50 on GittiGidiyor (Turkish Ebay) [1]

Though they are apparently well locked down and not yet liberated for alternative use (e.g. with other providers).

Hi mate ive tried that it makes no diff as i say at the min i have got it working via the WAN port so at least i can use the functions of the router but i defo want it working with the built in VDSL modem to get rid of then need for 2 boxes,

ive now got 4 boxes just for broadband so getting rid of 1 will be nice currently got MODEM > ROUTER > SAMKNOWS > TESTBOX > FON ROUTER lol

But yes they are good routers and will be a big shame if the DSL/VDSL port as packed in im going to get my friend whos with the ISP the router came from to give it a try at his house see if he gets a sync that way ill know if its still working or not then if it works i can try find out why its not working here
