Hi All,
Just joined as i'm looking for some help and advice from people far more experienced than myself!
Basically we have just had a new fibre cabinet installed in the street - East Kilbride cabinet 64, and i have been checking regularly as to when accepting orders would take place. Yesterday it seemed to go live, but i've now got a curious problem.
If i type my phone number into the infinity checker, it says "Your cabinet is enabled for Superfast fibre however you're not able to order fibre just yet." However, if i use my postcode and house number I get the message, "Great news, you can order a fibre service. Please get in touch with your service provider."
I contacted Sky, and at first they told me that all of the ports must be full, but with some persistence i got onto their provisioning team and then order recovery team, basically to be told that as a new customer i could place an order, but there is a 99% chance it would fail as my phone number is saying there is no availability, despite what the address check says! As an existing customer i can't order.
Any idea what i should do next?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Which checker are you using? What does this one say for your phone number?

Hmmm.
Was this a BDUK Project? There seem to be quite a few of those where the database can get in a mess.

Yes, it was delivered by Digital Scotland, but brought forward after complaints to BT's chief exec (not by me though!). How can I fix this?
Do both the address and telephone number checkers return results showing the same exchange and cabinet number?
This is the same cabinet that I've raised in the Sky forum - http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/sky/f/4469936-time-...
It's so frustrating after all the work that's been done by residents to get this cabinet installed too.

Yes they do!
Just thinking i might terminate my Sky line, pay the difference and get a new BT line with cashback to cover the cost!
I'm taking some comfort in the fact that i'm not alone...
Give it a week from when it went live and if the systems have not updated then email me [email protected] and will chase.
Is the cabinet very close to where you are located too? New cabinets like this are the harder ones to place in the model I run so a streetview link pointing to where it is (even if not in picture would help greatly)

I wouldn't rush into that, I cant help but fell that it wouldn't solve your problem.
Do you know a neighbours phone number? does theirs do the same?

As the OP has a sky line...might it be the GEA link cable not installed yet?
There is another thread concerning the same cab started yesterday
So they may both be the same issue

Tried a couple of my neighbours phone lines, and the BT wholesale checker reports, "There is no data available for this number. This could be either because it is not a BT line or it is a new BT number that has just been provided. Most new numbers will appear on the checker 24 hours after BT has installed the line."

Exchange has been offering FTTC for a long time, and issues are showing up across various checkers.

All sorted now. BT Wholesale was down for maintenance last night, and this morning I placed my order for fibre!

Can I ask who you ordered with? BT still not letting me order.nor are sky
Thanks!

It was with Sky. Interestingly it seems that only numbers 69 - 57 are marked as available on the BT Wholesale address check.
I had been checking every day and it was yesterday that the checker matched both my address and telephone number. Hopefully they'll do an update for the rest of the street...

I'm on this cabinet also and can't order. I've emailed BDUK last week, but no response as i thought it might be a Database issue.
Got a useless response today saying I was too far from the cabinet(as if they just checked the database for me and gave me a stock "you are greater than 1.2km from cabinet" ). Asked them to raise with engineering as I'm only 500m away(info provided by BT engineer 2 months ago when checking a line issue).
It's mad - if you are more than 1.2km away then I'm your distance + 300m ish.
If checkers still throwing silly estimates at people and you've confirmed physical location of fibre twin and its being near then time to email me [email protected] address/number details required and a link to this thread so I can trigger memory as to why you are emailing.

I'll email you later with details of cabinet locations, streets served etc..
Cheers

Yes I have just received that standard response from BDUK, again telling me that I live more than 1.2km from the cabinet. I have sent a reply back to BDUK asking for further explanation as to why only 1% of houses in Polden Ave are able to connect. They also kindly informed me that I may want to consider Satellite Broadband or see if our community is eligible via a Community Broadband scheme.

I got that response too. I emailed back in the nicest possible way saying that was nonsense. Asked them to escalate it. They replied saying they have passed it to engineering dept. Will see what happens. In the meantime I have emailed MrSaffron all the details for the cabinet, the postcodes it serves, the distances and the location of the 5-10 properties that can actually order

More street availability according to the checker - have a check...
Unfortunately, not me. Seems a bit random as to how it's being added.

Sorted now. Got my order in!
