Sky Broadband Ultrafast 1 - 160/30 Mbps
£41.50 /m or £39 /m without Boost
Sky Broadband Ultrafast 2 - 330/50 Mbps
£51.50 /m or £49 /m without Boost
Will be fascinating to see how much they sell the FTTP 500/75 & 1000/115 services for (assuming Sky decide to sell them) now that Openreach have reduced the wholesale prices. I believe Openreach will start selling the revised top tiers very shortly.

Prices will be £39 for Ultrafast 1 and £49 for Ultrafast 2 without the Sky Broadband Boost add-on.

This can only be good news for the end user.
Competition is what is needed so will be watching other ISP's respond now.

It will be interesting to see what BT's sister companies now do
Atm its
BT - fttp, g.fast. vdsl, adsl
EE - g.fast. vdsl, adsl
Plusnet - vdsl, adsl
The big question is with plusnet, despite retraining all their staff for a [now] defunct trial they will not comment on fttp. Also plusnet and sky are direct competitors
But yes as others have said this will bring a much needed boost for g.fast/fttp.

While we are talking about new pricing structures has anyone seen any pricing on BT's 550 / 75 or 1000 / 115 packages yet.

Nope, BT don't sell it yet.
BT told me a while ago when BT Wholesale Checker first started showing those speeds, and they told me they have no plans as yet and are waiting for those speeds to become available to more areas and also how much interest it shows.

Plusnet will never have g fast or fttp. They only want to keep budget ADSL/ADSL2/FTTC

Never is a very long time. They will at some point have to have a G.fast and FTTP products as the long term plan is to do away with ADSL and FTTC. Increasingly not having an FTTP product is a poor move as we are getting to the point where there will be millions of customers you simply cannot serve, which is never a good business strategy, especially if the likes of Sky and TalkTalk start offering a product.

Even G.Fast will have to go as the kit won't be worth the upkeep of the system once FTTP is ubiquitous. Particularly if PSTN is stopped, making ordinary copper phone lines redundant.

Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

Stopping WLR does not make the copper redundant, since the voice can be delivered over a small amount of bandwidth so VDSL2, Gfast will meet that need.
WLR switch off is stage 1
Copper removal is a stage a lot further down the road.

That was an add-on to my main point though. "... once FTTP is ubiquitous".
That will deliver full sync speeds to a huge number of FTTC users at 600+ metres from their cabinets. Demands for even more speed will ramp up as well in the next five years. Making the FTTC cabinets grossly underutilised in terms of connections, (though handling a lot of data), as those people switch to FTTP.
Also if native FTTP becomes available to the inside-600m users at VDSL2 prices, what are they going to do? Given that more and more people are ditching landlines for phone use anyway.
It could well give Openreach a better ROI if they replace the whole cabinet system as soon as they have the manpower available. Which will be at scattered area by scattered area.

Appears to be the even smaller minority of only those who can get G.Fast (at the moment)

I thought you said your estimates were amended to match the neighbours?
It's also not a full blown launch.
It may not be available from Sky in every exchange they operate from right away.

We can speculate till the cows come home, perhaps a better idea would be to wait and see how the Salisbury trail goes This is true, but I doubt if there will be much broadband over copper by the end of 2025.
I frequently chuckle about this, from February 2008. Almost exactly only eleven and a half years ago. But I think the next phase of internet is the volume i.e. the bandwidth. Because if you look at what the internet has been used for it has been used for email, surfing, file transfers and 1 or 2Mbps broadband is more than sufficient. The next generation of usage and users are going to download videos, stream soaps and so on and it's not speed that matters. Sure you need speed but 16Mbps is more than enough. What you need is the bandwidth. Mary Turner, then CEO of Tiscali UK.

Yes used to be but BTw has change it to correct speed estimated sadly

The big question is with plusnet, despite retraining all their staff for a [now] defunct trial they will not comment on fttp.
PlusNet only ever trained a relative handful of their staff to deal with FTTP.
Although their FTTP trial was closed to new applicants, everybody who was already on it was allowed to remain on FTTP.

That was the case for a large number of years, also on the forum they had only a few who would deal with fttp questions. That is no longer the case and now the trial is closed.
Why would you train more people on a closed trial?

Well even now there aren't a huge number of staff on the forum who are able to deal reliably with FTTP matters.
But I agree there are more than there used to be. And why? Probably because they have plans to announce a proper roll-out of FTTP when they've seen what the competition are up to pricewise etc.?

Pn has had the BT levels of labour applied to them. Every large business does this sadly

Bingo! They are just waiting for sky to fully release fttp. I expect the same for ee and also bt's competitors - ie voda and talk talk to fully go for it in 2020. It will be interesting to see how BT will keep their brands in the right tier
