Electricity tripping and DLM

[link to this post]

So frustrating but due to continuing problems with our electrics they keep tripping and this knocks out the modem.

Just in the past 14 days the modem has turned off every 3rd day on average.

The line is very stable and always stays connected and never looses sync (sometimes for months) until the power is cut.

Each time I leave it off for at least 30 mins to maybe 1 hour.

Is this sufficient to prevent DLM taking action or does a resync this often, even outside of the 15-30min snapshots bad enough to count against line quality?

In theory, yes.

But consider using a UPS for the router and your computer equipment. Power loss can damage file systems. Power bounces can fry equipment.

Yes it does I am afraid. I remember a long while back to 2017, my area suffer electricity power lost on and off few times and caused my DLM retrains 20 times in a single spiked. Caused DLM to act and banded on my line at 74Meg from 80Meg and it never removed off until PN request Openreach with a remote DLM resetted and the line removed banded and went back to 80Meg after few days.

1st Remote Defect Indicator/DLM resync: 26th Nov 2017 at 12:55pm (line banded enabled)

2nd Remote Defect Indicator/DLM resync: 29th Jan 2018 at 6:10pm (after 64 days line banded & DLM resetted by PN)

I think the good news is these days Plusnet can submit a DLM retrain for a banded connection.

Am I right in assuming, if I am not banded, providing there are no faults, I will always resync at a similar rate unless interleaving has been applied?

I am in fact interleaved, but as I understand it, providing error rates are low and stable, it is much more likely to retry fast path within 3 to 90 days vs dropping a banded profile?

Providing my speed won't reduce through means I'm unaware of, I always have the option to request a reset if I am banded.

Your best bet is to post on PN community forum to check your line GEA Test if your line are banded or not. You have to ask PN for a request of your line GEA Test to see if the line are banded or not. If line are banded, next step would be Openreach remotely DLM resetted by PN. If the line isn't banded, then PN will NOT do any remotely DLM resetted.
