When is FTTP likely to go live?

[link to this post]

This is probably one of those "how long is a piece of string" question, but here goes... I can finally see that these distribution boxes (?) have gone up on our poles - not all the way up, just half way for now so there's clearly more work to do. Openreach checker shows no change yet.

Is there any way to know roughly how long it's going to be before FTTP products are actually available? Thank you for any wild ideas!

It could be a week, or it could be a couple of months.

Ours was a year, a bit longer string was needed smile

How long’s a piece of fibre?

Must be reasonably long judging by the cable loops left under those CBT’s. 🤣

Sadly, there have been cases of Openreach running cables and CBTs to poles 3 or 4 years ago, which are still not live. Projects can be abandoned, due to end of funding or unexpected engineering difficulties found. Fingers crossed, hope you have better luck smile

Thanks folks; yes it's unfortunately one of those things we just can't know, we'll see how long it actually takes..!

Let's hope we both get it sooner rather than later.

Well would you look at that - it was all hung up properly today. Some mild hope remains..!

Kinda pees me off …. they lob it up there in the bucket of a hoist … but fail to assess how tricky they’ve made it for the average Joe who has to actually climb up and work on the damn thing ……
