Nokia G-010G-Q DC barrel jack

[link to this post]

Does anyone know what the DC barrel jack specs are on the G-010G-Q Nokia ONT? Im looking to use a USB-C to DC PD trigger cable so I can power it from my router's USB-C port, but the jack seems like a rarer type and I need to get an adapter for the male DC side of the cable.

Same barrel / jack size is used across recent Openreach ONT whether Huawei or Nokia, ADTRAN (or indeed the long deceased ECI): 2.1mm (inner) x 5.5mm (outer) x 9.5mm (long). Positive tip/centre conductor. 12v supply.

See SIN, page 27:

Make sure you can buck/boost the USB to 12v otherwise you’re in trouble. Also need around 5w on quiescent / steady state and bit more on start up.

That's perfect thanks a lot!

Yeh, I think I have headroom, the port is primarily for external drives. At one point, I accidentally used the wrong adapter with the router that was a good 10W less than the proper one (lower current rating, same voltage) without any issues -- implying the over-speced adapter is probably linked to the need to attach devices to it (would also align with it using USB-C with PD).

They actually run at very low power in use. A couple of watts.

USB PD supports 5, 9, 12, 15 and 20 volts although 12 volt support is optional not mandatory.
You just have to buy a USB C to barrel adapter that has a chip in that will handshake with the USB C port to get the correct voltage.

Thanks

Think I'd still get the multimeter out to check you're not feeding it 20V by mistake 😂

A router with USB PD? Are you sure? Not every USB Type-C port is going to be PD.

And the other question is, "why?" If it's to save a mains socket, and if the router and ONT are both 12V, they could be powered with a simple Y adapter.
