Openreach FTTP question

[link to this post]

I have an Openreach copper line running from a telegraph pole to my property. I've had FTTC running over this line previously with various providers.

However, there is currently no live service over this line as I got connected to Community Fibre FTTP. I ported the PSTN landline to A&A VoIP, and this ceased the FTTC broadband on this line.

When I got connected to Community Fibre, the Openreach website reported that my property was not currently in their build plans.

A few days ago I received an email from Openreach informing me that my property has been added to their build plans, and I confirmed that this is also the case on the Openreach website (this is saying build planned between now and December 2026 for my property).

If and when Openreach build in my area will they replace all copper lines including those that have no active service being delivered over them? Or will lines like mine be excluded?

Or would it be a case of placing an order with a provider after Openreach have finished the build in my area and Openreach then getting my property connected to FTTP?

This.
They don't touch anyone's line unless they order FTTP. It matters not if you have an active service when they do the rollout.

As above, nothing happens unless you place an order.

I ordered an FTTP service from an ISP offering a 1-month term just so that I had the fibre and ONT installed in case I needed a service to be turned up without having to arrange an engineer visit and I used it as an opportunity for the copper to be removed, but there is no need to do this.

Openreach provide its FTTP network to be of sufficient size to cover all addresses within it ,irrespective of the current status of individual addresses within its target area , , so it matters not if any particular address has no service at all , service from Virgin, or an Alt Net , or a working Openreach copper pair service, its the total number of addresses that is important, but as stated, if you never order service from an Openreach based ISP , then nothing happens, your dead copper dropwire remains in situ , if you do order service via Openreach at that point the copper pair dropwire is removed at the time the fibre drop is provided, some request the OR copper wire is removed if they join an Alt Net , presumably for aesthetic purposes and it seems OR will comply with the request
