Just wondering, if anyone knows of a cheap FTTC provider?
Me, myself, am staying on VM Cable for now as theres naff all FTTP providers but a relative is having their cab upgraded as we speak; they are currently on Orange LLU (Yeah, I know...) and only syncing at 2 Meg right now.
I see TalkTalk offer fibre, seems like the cheapest / best value option as far as I can see but if anyone knows of a cheaper option, it would be greatly appreciated.
Connection isn't used for P2P all that much nor is the usage paticularly heavy, but my relative lets the spare rooms out to foreign students and VOIP doesn't wory well atall on what is there now, let alone youtube and voip simultaneously...
Cheers all!

see my signature for a full spreadsheet of providers
In terms of price, BT, plusnet and web tapestry seem to be amongst the cheapest.

Do they have an actual FTTC product? From what I can see you need a regular ADSL service and then "bolt on" a fibre boost

Right, which is an FTTC product. It's just how they choose to market it

Seems a bit of a roundabout way to do it especially for any new customer.
Also makes pricing a bit trickier to ascertain without doing some mental arithmetic and page hopping but then I like simple, clear tabular data

If the connection will be available to guests I would ABSOLUTELY recommend going for a cheap unlimited option - which probably means BT infinity or talktalk -- otherwise could be subject to overuse charges by guests.

Indeedly what I thought.
Funny, the phone number is showing FTTC available from 30/09/11 on the Infinity checker but there's no sign of a FTTC cab beside PCP160 yet, the PO Telecoms manhole beside PCP160 has been marked out for replacement with the FTTC cab for 9+ months now... lol. It'll happen eventually...
