TBH most engineers I know prefer to use the NTE shift route as the cable is 'easier' to run.

If this is done, would they reinstate a socket where the NTE5 is now. I have/need a phone plugged in at this location and all other phone extensions are terminated there. Thanks again - R

I presently have a Cat5e cable that carries the A & B wires from inside the current NTE5 to a RJ11 socket where I have/want the modem. I left a bit of slack in the cable both ends, hopefully they'll be happy to use this cable with their adapters either end.

Sounds like a 'tickle' for the engineer.
