It means you don't have Java installed.

What's java got to do with pings?

IIRC, the Home Hub doesn't respond to pings, and cannot be made to.

My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

I have java installed as our systems we work with are java based, but not the latest version of java as it never updates. I always get the same message and have never been able to resolve this issue so if anyone here knows a workaround on this please do let me know. Thanks.

The message says "bin\awt.dll: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match."

Then a second message pops up saying. "error 1772: There is a problem with with windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

I think you have to have a device in the DMZ that responds to pings, that's certainly my experience with the Home Hub 3, but I'm not sure what your router is.

I strongly suggest you get java updated, your not secure otherwise. I was hacked via out -of-date java not to long ago and they got my ftp passwords. First I knew about it was my sites had got malware installed on them.

Have you tried the offline installer? http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Failing that completely remove java and try the offline installer again.
