I contacted my ISP but they have replied and said to register my interest with BT. Essentially what Moradin has advised.
I will contact the MP see what he has to say, seems he was opening a local broadband conference last week so should know what he's on about... Indeedy. Did you see the report in the local newspaper?

Indeed, trying to get a 21st century technology but having to use 19th century means...
I did read something, and I have filled in the survery thing that is on the suffolk.gov.uk site too.
A friend of mine has a business located in BSE too, he cant get FTTC either, his post code is IP32 7HX.
thanks,
Nath

Your friend's postcode is listed --
EABSE,BURY ST. EDMONDS,IP327HX,{EABSE}{M_F},1,5%,,,,
EABSE,BURY ST. EDMONDS,IP327HX,{EABSE}{P67},0,94%,,,, From that we see 94% of all lines are connected via PCP67, 5% of the lines go direct to the exchange (I assume it is the Great Barton exchange) -- they are termed Exchange Only lines -- and 1% of the lines are, realistically, nothing more than a rounding error in the approximate arithmetic.

Aha, would the direct lines go to Great Barton exchange even if the phone number lists it as BSE ?
If they are direct does this mean it would have to be FTTP rather than FTTP ?
thanks,
Nath

Aha, would the direct lines go to Great Barton exchange even if the phone number lists it as BSE ?
If they are direct does this mean it would have to be FTTP rather than FTTP ? Yes, that could be the case (to both questions). However the policy of how to service EO has not, so far been defined. The general assumption being that EO line should receive a good ADSL2+ service . . .
Please remember the area code 01284 is not just Bury St Edmunds, it is also Great Barton and other satellite exchanges . . . I did see a map, somewhere, which showed all the different physical exchange buildings that were using the main BSE code. Unfortunately, I did not book-mark it and cannot now find it.
<Sigh. D'oh!>
