In response to the cooling fan question - The noise is equivalent to a standard fridge compressor at 0.5m distance, and they only run during hot weather.

May I ask why you are interested about possible noise?
I thought the closer the fibre cabinet is to someone, the happier they would be laugh

if I know it makes noise then I will know the cabinet switched on and ready for business.

Random Update:

Hole has been dug up, on pilot road, near the orginial cabinet, near spars store.
Assuming its for the FTTC Cabinet.

People in the Castleham Exchange, Haa Haa No FTTC for you.

Check talktalk site.

My Pevensey Road postcode and phone number gave me a date of July 2012 for their optic broadband offering

I got the date from SamKnows but looking at the Openreach docs it just says March 2012 but no date frown Guess I'll just have to be a bit more patient...

Openreach have just updated their "where and when" documents, here.

Good news, Baldslow is now accepting orders but the bad news is Hastings has been pushed back to June 2012. On a more positive note Hastings is now listed as FTTC/P. Just need to find out which areas will be able to have FTTP. smile

Greetings to those in or around Hastings and Bexhill.

Sadly I am in Cooden which is NOT currently being enabled! frown

I see East Sussex County Council have a Broadband Survey, which I intend to get as many people to fill out as I can.

Is anyone who is connected to any of the "potential" cabs, fed by a Telephone pole to get their ADSL or Voice service? Am just curious.

I will keep an eye on this thread for further updates smile

I guess covering a much smaller area than the main Hastings exchange it was bound to be enable first. Hopefully Openreach will use the next 3 months extending the infrastructure so that more of us on the Hastings exchange can have FTTP right from the start because going down the "FTTP on Demand" route is way too expensive.

One thing I noticed is there is no sign of Castleham or Guestling on the list of the exchanges being enabled in 2013.
