In reply to a post by Anonymous: I'm seriously annoyed with the monkeys at Ilford Central. What on earth is going on? The fttp equipment was put up on the poles along my street last SUMMER and yet nothing in terms of go live has happened.
That's absolutely pathetic, write a complaint, there no excuse for that kind of delay.
Im worried FTTP is going to be a waste of time for most towns, here i see many areas have gotten cabs already yet not a single place has FTTP yet even though we're supposed to go live soon, how pathetic, half the town is waiting on FTTP which is meant to be the superior service yet no one will likely get it for a long time, i was looking forward to it thinking to be the lucky one but now i just wish they gave everyone FTTC, it's no good saying we're getting FTTP if we have to wait a year for it, they need to get their act together and stop neglecting FTTP!

It's probably a resource problems as much as time constraints to get some sort of fibre broadband to as many potential customers as possible and FTTC is much quicker to install. My area was supposed to the FTTP but with delays etc Openreach changed it to FTTC and now the RFS date has slipped again and it's now mixed FTTC/FTTP.
Openreach also reckon the average time it take to do one FTTP install is around 7 hours.

They should at least install things equally, just because FTTC can be done quicker doesn't mean everyone else in an FTTP area should have to wait, i wouldn't have a problem if i knew they were working on both at the same time but it appears they focus completely on FTTC until it's complete and not much sign they're work as fast when FTTP is up to install, that's hardly fair is it?

Sorry that didn't make much sense, what i meant was i suspect that once the FTTC install is complete, its likely that they won't rush to install FTTP, not because they're slow but because once the town is said to have fibre they can relax and do the rest on a relaxed timetable while openreach can claim the town has fibre.

Maybe the ISPs find there is a greater demand for FTTC, back to the discussion about what speeds people currently want.

I don't care about more speed or what it travels over, id be more than happy with 40/10, the issue isn't about speed, the issue is why should openreach prioritise FTTC over FTTP and claim the town is active when it looks like it will be ages before thats true, im quite annoyed now, they should of gave everyone FTTC first if it's so much quicker to install, 40/10 or 80/20 will be plenty for a long time to come.
If anyone sees FTTP down for their postcode consider yourself unlucky instead, well thats if you wish to ever get it in a reasonable time, you'll be waiting until all the FTTC aeras are done and thne maybe, just maybe it will come but you won't know when because the checker don't even try to give you info, that's why it may as well say no fibre instead of FTTP.

Its a commerical rollout their funding, so its to OR timetable when their resources allow them to complete.
FTTC is the faster product to generate a return then FTTP is so you just have to wait like everyone else, its frustrating but their are plenty of areas still without a FTTC or FTTP date and dont forget the people on EO lines both short and long they have no upgrade plan yet announced by BT.

Perhaps Openreach should employ every unemployed person, just so I can have FTTP now.
Forget the costs, oh and I only want to pay £6.50 a month for it.
