Could someone help me out here with a couple of questions i have.
My current phone line comes from a pole outside my house from the previous posts does this mean im likely to have to while longer than if it came from a cab? Im not sure where my cab is , im on one of the unadopted roads behind boscobel road.
Also does this mean the fibre optic will come right to my door rather than stop at the nearest cab and will this mean a better speed when it does arrive?

Malc

It won't make any difference unless you have a direct exchange line. The lines that come via poles will end up at a cabinet somewhere. One advantage of having the line coming via telegraph poles is that once "FTTP on Demand" becomes available it should be a lot cheaper to install than if it's all underground.

I walk past my nearest fttc cabinet almost every day and today I noticed fan noise coming from the cabinet for the first time.

Been keeping a track of this since back in January.

Good news on my cab according to BT. Available 30th June at speed of 66.7mb down and 20mb up. This is at the top of Harley Shute on FTTC. Must be pretty close to the cab with those speeds you would think?

Is this still looking a realistic date as we all know what these things are like?

On 3rd May, Openreach announced fibre was becoming available in Hastings on their Twitter news feed and their When and Where web page has Hastings listed as Accepting Orders but I don't know anyone who has been able to order it yet.

The cabinet I'm connected to isn't powered up yet even though it was fully commissioned 3 weeks ago.

How did they commission it with no power?

The power has been connected, that was done about two months ago, but judging by the lack of noise from the cabinet it's not been switched on yet.

The cabinet outside the ambulance station on Bohemia was being fiddled with by a single open reach engineer yesterday. Possible enabling it, or pulling all the wires out. Either way, i'm no better off yet frown
