I have seen a few BT vans around the last few days, i just hope it will be ready to order by the end of June. I'm about 600 metres from the exchange, anyone have a rough idea of what speed i'll be looking at? The exchange checker says i'll get 75mb down and 20 up but in reality i'm not sure i will.
it don't matter how far you are away from the exchange it is how far you are from the cabinet as the last part is still going over antique BT cables that is falling apart.
One reason why I am looking at All pay, the only thing that may stop me is short term price.
i have to pay £29 for a cease connection from ADSL24, then a £100 connection fee, sure I can pay it monthly, but it is still £100.
The other thing is upload, all pay is 1Megabit, fibre is up to 20 depending on what service you go for.
Pricing per month is not that much different, ADSl24 on a package that would just about do for me is about £29, then phone line rental on top.
All pay is £29 for ten megabits, sure it is not as fast as 30-40 that fibre offers, but then I don't need a phone line either.
sure I could go with one of the larger ISPs like Bt, Talk Talk or sky, but to be honest they are not that much cheaper, but they do have unlimited data and going back to Bt is something I don't want to do and there is no way on this earth that I would touch Talk talk with a barge pole.
The other one is sky and while their broadband is pretty good, their router is not so good and the fibre version is just a ADSL router with a different firmware. also do I really want to support Murdoch?
I got a visit from All pay in the week to have a chat, how many other ISps will do that? so I will see what happens then.
