Sam Knows tells me that FTTC is available at my (postcode) address. BT still says no.how can i definitively find out when to expect/get it?
The nearest you will get will be this checker, but use the phone number if you have a "BT" one, or the address. The postcode checker there is unreliable as there could be more than one cabinet for it and not all have to be enabled.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - Plusnet Value Fibre 80/20 trial.

Also saw a fibre truck in Ashington at the weekend - things are moving!

Yep, they were there last night too. Putting what looked like black tubing down a pavement manhole.

I so wish we had better and more official ETAs, this is maddening. smile

Hi everyone,

We have many customers ask if FTTC is available in their area and many get confused (as we did at first) if the exchange has been enabled why are you not able to get it your work premises! In fact open reach have to individually turn on every box and normally the way to spot if they have is the box will have some yellow paint on it! (so we've heard!) We have a huge list of numbers which we check weekly and inform our customers once the cabinet has been switched on. Open Reach say they are turning on thousands of cabinets each week around the country so it seems to be a waiting game!

Kind Regards,
Dialect Telecom

Nothing here yet.

Still don't know if it's my CAB or if I am on a Direct line.

When there were BT problems a few months ago, my neighbours didn't suffer but I did.

It was solved by BT fiddling with a roundabout about a mile away. I've also always had a slightly slower connection than my neighbours.

I'm on a direct line aren't I? frown

I don't know. When the roundabout thing happened, we lost our landline, and according to OR we are on The Cabinet In The Hedge (P10).

On Brocksburn Park, I think Burghley Gardens is the only street on P10, the rest are EO. I /think/

But you could always email OR and ask them, they usually give a fairly quick response. I think they're used to it by now.

Really helpful reply from BT

You are served by a cabinet and you do *not* have a direct line to the exchange.

FTTC Ready for service date: 2012-12-31

Predicted speeds,

Upstream bandwidth: 6Mbit/s
Downstream bandwidth: 34.6Mbit/s

PCP/Cab Id: 10
