We both looked on Plusnet and while he could get ADSL without a phone service we could not see FTTc without a phone service.

I will look again and see as I think he would prefer to stay with the plusnet/MAAF as long as the price is right for the service he gets.

In another thread the posters where talked about and it was revealed that they are put up by Openreach staff in their own time- so not all cabinets will be live when they are put up.

Has your friend checked the openreach where and when map- as it may show a yellow pin for his cabinet if their are delays- otherwise its just a case of waiting till it goes live.

the where and when map, only says the exchange and according to that map orders are being accepted, which is correct as I know of people in Hereford that have now got or is getting FTTC. the where and when map as far as i can tell, will not give information about single cabinets.

thanks, but I found it after, I edited the message above. i have sent my mate a link and got a cheers reply back. I will chat to him tomorrow and see what he thinks.

He may go for the £16 odd a month one, but I am not sure if 40Gb would any good for him.

It is up to him now, he got some options, at least with plusnet he will have access to a call centre in the UK, which is more than he would get with BT.

when i put my postcode in, plusnet added line rental to my total, i suppose because i don't have a phone line and they know I would need one to get their service, so assumed i would use theirs.

At the moment i am happy with what I have got and even if i did not have the 2 year contract I got no plans to change.

I got a letter from BT, saying I can get fibre, now I await for Talk Talk to either send me a letter/leaflet or come knocking on my door.

It only does for delayed cabinets, their is the openreach nga email which does give updates about individual cabinets.

They should only be placed on live cabinets , but some have been placed in error on cabinets that are not in service . If the OP sends a message to openreach via the contact us link hopefully they will arrange removal.
