Response from Sky

"I have had this looked at for you now, the openreach tests have identified a configuration issue as I suspected, this has now been logged off to get it fixed, should be done within the next 24 hours. There's nothing wrong with the line that resulted in the slow down its just incorrectly configured.

Hope that helps!"

Result hopefully

Pardon my ignorance and curiosity but:
What sort of thing would be a configuration issue?
And is it something that has spontaneously occurred, or is it something that was always there but recent events have made it apparent?

No idea sorry.

It could be something in the Sky router, or anywhere from the Sky equipment in the exchange right back to their in-house routers.

There's a slight chance it is in the Openreach setup.

If you could explain how the Sky router or exchange equipment are influencing the speed the Openreach modem is training with the Openreach MSAN please Bob that'd be great, thanks!

LOL smile.

A bit of brain-fade.

I answered the specific question from speedyritewithout really remembering the context. In particular I remembered it was Sky FTTC and "configuration issue", and that the thread was to do with speed, but I forgot "the openreach tests have identified a configuration issue", and that the original issue was sync, not throughput.

My reply earlier than that, to the OP, was I hope you will agree, the correct one.

Sounds like something was wrong with the xDSL Profile configuration. Take your pick from { Downstream Rate, PSD or Spectrum profile. DPBO, RFI profile, DS SNRM, Virtual Noise, INP or INM Profile } or maybe a mis-combination of all ten tweakers:

TR-165 xDSL Profiles

cheers, a

That sort of effect on the noise margin was what I was looking for, if it wasn't a one-off blip. Just have to wait now and see if it auto-corrects. Let us know smile - how OR banding works is part of a learning curve for us all.

I really wish there was no DLM at all tho, this is whats putting me of FTTC, on cable I can disconnect recconect etc. knowing I am not going to get some funky speed changes, interleaving changes etc. DLM is like the lottery.
