Whose own network? BTw's you mean? EE doesn't have any (BB) network period.

Well they must have an ISP network.

Back in the old days of dialup you could dial lots of different ISPs, and get different performance, some could saturate the 56k modem, some couldn't at peak times. Its no different today with the wholesale bit (either BT's WBC, Sky's LLU network, or TalkTalk's LLU network) just connects your home to the ISP network at higher and higher speeds. How the ISPs network performs depends on how good you think the "internet" is.

Your post implied it was all BT run with white label re-branding?

The Bright Box is surely designed to complement Openreach's superfast Fibre broadband network? Backhaul from the exchange and ISP internal routing systems have always been nothing to do with the home kit design.

The advertising fluff is just that. Fluff!

In the case of EE, it is indeed BT Wholesale White Label.

Plusnet (part of the BT Group) pushed me into a 24 month contract with that half price deal for 6 months.

That's in spite of Ofcom stating that it wanted minimum contract terms to be shorter (ideally a month).

I would certainly not go for a 24 month or 18 month contract with a normal ISP. i only went for a 24 month with this one because of what it is.

not that I am planning to change when my contract ends.

short term adsl availability doesnt excuse whats happening in the vdsl market.

if you read revk's blog you will eg. see that bt use the same automated process for vdsl migrations as they do for adsl yet vdsl is 5x the cost for a migration.

Why just FTTC contracts? i bet there are some people out there that don't want a 18 month contract on ADSL.

Actually the BB side is still 'Orange, brought to you by EE' (duh!) and is basically a marketing, and perhaps support, only organisation.

adsl is already 1 month on wholesale. so nothing for ofcom to fix.

that doesnt mean all retail will do 1 month, but some do.

on vdsl none do 1 month due to the wholesale situation.

Same branding they're using with the mobiles. I can only guess its to stop those people who left Orange for T, or T for Orange from ditching both and going to O2/Voda/3.

Then they need to sort out retail then, not saying all contracts should be a month, but no more than 12.
