I think the fact that the check shows a dslam means it is at least planned, speed esrimates often don't show until shortly before the cabinet goes live, on the otherhand I've seen them show a long time before the cabinet is even installed.

In my case the checker did not show any FTTC speed estimates until around 2 weeks after the cab had actually been built.

I entirely agree that it has been planned, it's more the timescales that are the 'issue'. This beastie has a very long story around it going right back to February of 2012.

The issue is more that for the community there are no signs of this. I can give them an esoteric cabinet reference and the same promised date but absolutely nothing else and we're 3 months out.

Ribble has actually been far more informative than Openreach have officially, he's also made them look a bit silly as they have actively claimed that there are no plans, at all, for commencement of construction.

I ask as speaking with someone in BT who has been 'watching' this closely they were VERY evasive when I asked where it was in the process. They simply refused to give any detail at all which is odd given the level of detail Tony et al in customer engagement are quite happy to give on a daily basis.

The Force is proving weak for me with this one. I can't even get a second line to bond them for extra performance at the moment.

I'm facing a community meeting in a couple of days which I can't say I'm looking forward to...

MY/HLT xx progress is as follows:-
Survey initiated and complete.
Spine cabling has been planned
Mapping for the fibre in the exchange has been completed.

Project is showing that the build work is due to be completed by the end of October, the cabinet will then be passed over to testing and commissioning, which, if all goes OK will mean ready for service in Mid - November.

So I guess everything that needs to be has been planned now. Just a waiting game before build.

Just to close this off there are no streetworks scheduled at this time, however the information is that cabinet, etc, are due for install next month, with 'hopeful' RFS of November.

Anyone have any thoughts on what this might mean? This refers to the PCP.

My confusion here is huge. I've no idea what 'too far from terminal' means, nor why the PCP wouldn't be up to standard, it's a PCP, it has room for tie pairs.

As far as I was aware the only thing that was potentially problematic was that there was no room in ducting to extend the fibre spine to the FTTC cabinet, beyond that I wasn't aware of issues.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong gratefully appreciated.

it is like the blind leading the blind, but here is a punt....

* too far from terminal. = the fibre node in the street is too fare from this cabinet to connect correctly with some form of patch extension cable. e.g. a new fibre connection point node needs to be added into the street

* PCP (existing green box) is either physically too small to add in the extra jumper cables (needs a new shell/expansion added) or something is damaged with the shell/cabling. Soooo this PCP needs a bit of due care and attention to make into a usable state for the fibre links.

that's what I read from this. I do think its still on, but a bit more work is needed, e.g. a 3 mth delay.

I think I've actually worked it out.

There's no range as far as the aggregation nodes go to speak of, fibre is spliced to deliver light not via any kind of patch cables so distance shouldn't be an issue unless talking about a really enormous distance.

The PCP is in decent shape, it's very new, and there's plenty of room inside it for the tie pairs and jumpers.

I suspect the resident was speaking to a group of guys working on a phone fault, specifically that the cabinet has run out of e-sides and there's no room to add more without digging. They may well not be aware the cabinet is getting fibre, the checker isn't aware:

This has no date for a fibre build on the availability checker. A fibre cab not due for fibre.

They may have been referring to being too far from the exchange for decent broadband. According to Openreach records line lengths here are around the 6k mark.

Either way have asked a few questions. I noted that the road has been marked to deliver the extra duct for e-sides. This same duct will be able to take the NGA fibre too.

Or perhaps not.

Unsure how accurate it is but I've been informed it's going onto the delayed indefinitely list.

So perhaps it'll end up as part of BDUK, meanwhile the cabinet a few hundred metres down the road passing 173 premises was upgraded in the spring.
