I too am getting fed up with OpenReach.

We came home from holiday last September to find a fibre box had been installed - yippee!

At the beginning of December the contractor providing a power supply to the fibre box molded through main village telephone cable so most of the village had no phones for about 2 weeks!!!! - Booooooooooh!

We were told that we weren't in the first set of local addresses to be connected by an on site OpenReach person. Boooooooooooooooooooh!

Around Xmas the exchange went live and the postcode checker said we should look for a supplier but both the BT wholesale telephone number checker & the providers say we don't have a service - & nor does anyone else connected to out nice shiny, but rapidly getting old, box. Boooooooooooooooh!

As the postcode checker says that the exchange is live it doesn't provide any useful info and the wholesale checker merely says what is available with no indication of when the fibre will be switched on. Booooooooooooooh!

November/December they came & cleaned out the ducts which also I nvolved digging several small holes in the road. Yipeeeeeee!

I have emailed the queries link at OpenReach and they don't seem to want to reply. Booooooooooooh!

Talk about frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why oh why will they not provide this basic information. They must have a really strong customer service ethic. I bet that their mission statement doesn't read like this.

What does the BT Retail Infinity checker say? It could just be the PN database hasn't updated yet.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 59.4/14.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

BT Retail Infinity checker say:

78Mb down and 20Mb up available now http://oi61.tinypic.com/5n0d4.jpg

I had phoned up BT and they say it not available and no date is given.

The same with Plusnet saying it not available or no date is giving.

So, I cannot placed an order! frown

Hi guys,

I don't know if any of you recall, but I posted a while ago asking if it was possible for 1 FTTC cabinet to support 2 normal cabinets.

I explained that there are 2 cabinets, one on each side of a busway, (Cabinet 25 and 26 respectively). The FTTC cabinet was right by Cabinet 25.

However, today I noticed that a 2nd cabinet is being put in place right next to the existing FTTC cabinet. As per the photograph.

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z374/Dark_Kobra/...

Cabinet 26 is in the foreground (closest to the camera). I noticed that in another post, that it is possible that a second cabinet could pop up to cater for extra capacity.

Cabinet 26 (my cabinet) is due to get FTTC around 31st May, but what I'm wondering, is it possible that this second cabinet could be for capacity expansion at Cabinet 25, or could it be more likely to serve Cabinet 26?

I wasn't sure due to the fact that the cabinets are so close to each other and are closer to Cabinet 25 than 26.

(It's just that, I would have assumed that there would have been a FTTC cabinet next to Cabinet 26, but I believe that the distance that they are at, are more than in adequate range to serve Cabinet 26)

Many thanks guys for any opinions or ideas!

FTTC cabinets can be anywhere from 1-100 meters away from the pcp, in your case it could be a expansion cabinet for cab 25 or the FTTC twin for pcp 26.
Until the BT wholesale checker says that you can order FTTC, will have to wait and see if that FTTC cab is for pcp 26.

In my local town their are two sets of pcp's that have both their FTTC cabinets next to each other, both are under 50 meters from their pcp's.

Well BT have managed to sort the issue out. I recieved an email out of the blue saying my BT Broadband was being cancelled. Then another one saying thank you for ordering BT Infinity 2.

My install date is in 2 weeks time. Hopefully everything goes to plan this time.
