ECI vs HG612

Hi
My current modem is a ECI, but as I'm changing providers in 10 days I thought it might be worth trying a HG612 on my line.

Should the HG612 work as well with my line ? Will it cause me any issues with my current setup or the new connection from PlusNet ?

I'll be looking to get it fro eBay and unlocking it.

I had an ECI as well but I've been having issues with my line (started off at 53meg 3 months ago, now down to 32meg) so I decided to get a HG612 and unlock it so I can see the stats, using the latest firmware etc from the HG612 I've got a slightly higher sync than I had but with the added bonus of being able to see the stats.

The HG612 modems with the newer firmware seem to give better results, especially on longer lines. There also no need to match the modem make to the cabinet make, it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Thanks for the replies.. Just bought one from eBay so will be looking to set it up once I get it.

Only really looking to unlock it, give it an address on my network and that's about it for now.
Is it simply unlock and swap with the ECI modem or is there anything else I'll need to do. ? Any other config needed ?

Also I'm currently with BT if playing and swapping the modem messes up my line and connection speed, will all that be reset when I migrate to Plus Net on the 23rd ?

Yes, just unlock and swap. If you want to check it's working before you do that, just swap. I advise you do in case it's dodgy. Remember you may need to do a factory reset.

Initially no other config changes needed. I haven't done, but some like to turn off QoS and TR069.

It won't mess anything up, so no-one can answer that!
