I think you're right. I think I will just wait for installation day and hope for the best.

Thanks very much for your help.

I can't find anything in the user manual that suggests it will work with a VDSL modem. I also saw a few posts on forums of customers asking for Belkin to add firmware support for VDSL.

You may need to be prepared for the possibility that this is an ADSLx only modem and may not be compatible with VDSL/cable modems.

Thanks for that is there a router you can recommend that would be suitable for fibre.

I think a lot of people recommend the Asus RT-N66 but I don't have first hand experience. I'm using a Billion 7800 which works great for me. I suspect others will be able to give better advice than me as I have pretty much just stuck with the same router since I joined (did have a spell with a BT Home Hub 5 but it caused problems so got rid).

Urm I can find reference to this router working fine with cable and fibre services.

Adding VDSL support is a different thing and implies a VDSL2 chipset in the modem component.

The manual suggests enough options available. The AC1200 itself is really just an Ethernet router, the xDSL component is in the power supply

OK, may well be fine then. The Belkin site and manuals aren't overly instructive and leave a lot to be desired.

Yes I know that's why I asked here as people on here seem to be more knowledgeable. Thanks for your interest, somebody may well come on here and tell me they're using the exact same router with fibre with no problems .

Thanks a lot.

The Belkin will be perfectly OK to use with an Openreach fibre modem, the AC1200 is as Andrew says just a router with an Ethernet WAN port. The Power-modem thing had us puzzled for a while and the Belkin website is not very clear. It claims the AC1200 has a Built-in ADSL 2+ modem and a Built-in power supply unit when the diagram clearly shows them as separate items. Built-in must mean supplied in the box in Belkin world! Not too keen on Belkin stuff myself, but it does seem to have a good spec with AC wireless and a gigabit WAN port. Should work well on an FTTC service.
