FTTC Profiles

Is FTTC still run over the 8c (8.5mhz) profile or do all connections now used profile 17a (17.664mhz) ?

Also if FTTC is still able to use 8c simultaneously with 17a can a customer request a change to that profile to increase stability or even bandwidth on poorer quality lines.

It's all 17a, set at the cabinet DSLAMs.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.6/14.1Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Oh well... Just a question I've been meaning to ask for a while....

So does that mean if/when profile 30a comes about everyone will more than likely be switched to that or will the DSLAMS not run different profiles simultaneously?

30a is years away, if ever. Openreach specification for third-party (ISP-provided) includes:-

R.VDSL2.2 The modem shall support VDSL2 Profile 17a as defined in G.993.2.
R.VDSL2.9 The modem shall support seamless rate adaptation (SRA) as defined in Section 13.1 of G.993.2.
R.VDSL2.12 The modem shall support 17MHz Vectoring as defined in G.993.5. This requires the modem to be �vector ready�.

If there was any chance of 30a in the foreseeable future they would have to have it in there, or pay for tens of thousands of replacement modem/routers.
